Privacy Policy
Effective 17 August 2026
Reverie is built the old-fashioned way: no accounts, no servers, no tracking. Your books are your files, your listening history is your data, and both stay in places you control — your devices and your own iCloud. This page describes everything the app does with data, in full.
What we collect
Nothing. Reverie has no analytics, no advertising, no crash-reporting service, and no server of ours that the app talks to. We cannot see your library, your listening history, your bookmarks, or anything else — none of it is transmitted to us, linked to your identity by us, or sold to anyone.
Your library
Your audiobooks, ebooks, and comics live in your iCloud Drive folder (or locally on your device if you don't use iCloud). Apple hosts that storage under your Apple Account; we have no access to it.
Sync
Playback positions, bookmarks, reading progress, and book metadata sync between your devices through CloudKit's private database — storage that belongs to your Apple Account, is encrypted in transit, and is readable only by your devices. It is technically inaccessible to us.
Metadata lookups
When you ask Reverie to find cover art or book details, it sends that search — typically a title and author — over HTTPS to one or more public catalogues: the iTunes Search API, Google Books, Open Library, Hardcover, and Wikidata. These requests happen only at your explicit request, carry no account identity from the app, and the results are cached only on your device. Each service processes the query under its own privacy policy.
Hardcover account (optional)
If you connect a Hardcover account for library syncing, your access token is stored in the device Keychain and is used only to talk to Hardcover on your behalf. Disconnecting removes it.
On-device intelligence
Chapter transcription and summaries use Apple's on-device speech and Apple Intelligence frameworks, are opt-in per book, and run entirely on your device. Your audio never leaves it.
Deleting your data
Everything the app stores is yours to remove: delete files from your iCloud Drive folder, remove downloads or clear caches in the app's settings, and delete the app's iCloud data from iOS/macOS Settings → iCloud → Manage Account Storage. Deleting the app removes everything on-device.
Children
Reverie is not directed at children, and — since it collects nothing — no personal information is gathered from anyone, of any age.
Changes
If the app's behaviour ever changes in a way that affects this policy, this page will be updated and the effective date revised.
